knp map Travel south out of Darwin on the Stuart Highway and turn left at the Arnhem Highway (approx. 35km). This is an excellent quality sealed road that is usually open all year round.

It is around 3-4 hours drive from Darwin to Jabiru with adequate services along the route.

Access from Pine Creek, 180kms south of Darwin is via the Kakadu Highway, again usually open all year round. Check road conditions before setting off.

The Kakadu National Park entry fee must be paid at the Bowali Visitor Centre at the Park Headquarters just outside of Jabiru. Cost is $100 for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) or $40 per adult and $30 per concession You may never have to show your pass to anybody, even at the visitor centres, but you must have it with you at all times and you can be spot checked by the roving Park Rangers.

Northern Territory residents do not need to purchase a pass.

You can hire 2wd and 4wd cars in Darwin, with daily distance limits. Campervan rentals often don't have distance limits. A variety Coach and small group tours are also available from Darwin.

Some parts of the park are not accessible during the wet season to akk vehicles. Check road conditions and closures in advance.
